Charlotte’s 49ers are looking to add to their Atlantic 10 track and field trophy collection this week.

The 49ers women are out to earn their fourth straight Atlantic 10 outdoor championship May 2-3 at Belk Track while the men are looking for their second title in four years. Charlotte won both championships at the indoor meet.

The women’s team, winners of every A-10 championship since joining the league in 2005, is paced by senior distance runner Aja Jackson (Waddell High). Sprinter Lamarra Currie of Apex has the 10th best time in the 100 meters in the nation.

Isaac McReynolds (Vance) is one of the league’s top hurdlers and sprinter Darius Law from Raleigh is a favorite in multiple events. The 49ers’ main competition is two-time men’s champion Rhode Island
