The Convention Committee of North Carolina Parent Teacher Congress (NCPTA) is pleased to announce details about the 2019 NCPTA Convention in Charlotte. This year’s theme is “Celebrating the Legacy and Continuing the Journey” and the focus is on Leadership Matters.  Come join us as NCPTA celebrates 100 years.  The convention will take place at UNC Charlotte Center City on Friday (May 17th) and Saturday (May 18th) and presents a one-of-a-kind opportunity to engage and learn with PTA members from across the state. The focus of this year’s content will be on diversity and inclusion, special education, and PTA leadership and governance. This convention is designed for parents, teachers, principals, central office staff, and community organizers/partners. North Carolina PTA’s Convention Committee is excited about the upcoming convention and Shaneeka Moore-Lawrence, Convention Committee Chair says, “There will be something for everyone at this year’s convention.  We will offer more than 25 workshop breakout sessions facilitated by experts from across the country.  Excitedly, we are rolling out the red carpet for our State Superintendent Mark Johnson and several National PTA Representatives including one of our keynote speakers Marques Ivey. Along with networking, vendors, exhibitors, awards, and door prizes, NCPTA is thrilled to host its first Diversity & Inclusion Awards Breakfast on Saturday with special guest speakers from National PTA and UNC Charlotte.”  North Carolina PTA is the state’s oldest and largest volunteer organization advocating for every child to reach their full potential. Founded in 1919 and affiliated with National PTA, there are more than 960 Parent Teacher Associations in schools across the state with more than 130,000 members. PTAs provide advocacy, vital volunteers, and material resources to their schools. NCPTA supports PTA units and provides programs, training, and advocacy on behalf of North Carolina’s children.  For more information and to register, please go to  http://bit.ly/ncptaconvention2019.  If you have any questions, you may reach out to NCPTA at office@ncpta.org or at 919-787-0534.
