Come join artist Marni Manning as she unveils her watercolor series about the Day of the Dead and pays honor to a long-held Mexican tradition.
The Day of the Dead is a holiday celebrated on November 1st and 2nd, in South and Central America, and also around the world, to those who keep their Mexican traditions. The event is held to remember loved ones who have passed away and honor their lives. Although the topic of “death” would seem somber and macabre, it’s a colorful, vivacious, deeply meaningful affair. Artist Marni Manning conducted research concerning Dia de los Muertos and was able to interview some Mexican nationals who participate in the holiday. This art exhibit grew out of those conversations, in an effort to better understand and appreciate this aspect of Mexican culture.
Seventeen original watercolor paintings will be displayed at Free Range Brewing, from October 9 - November 27. All pieces are for sale, with 10% of the earnings being donated to the National Association of Latino Arts and Cultures. https://www.nalac.org/
