This one-woman-show, written and performed by Kami Shalom, tells the story of Madam CJ Walker, who was born on a plantation in 1867, orphaned at 8, violated as a teenager and became a single mom by age 19. Defying the odds, Walker became America's first African-American, self-made millionaire.

Shalom, named Best Local Playwright 2014 by Charlotte Magazine, depicts Walker and about 20 other characters.

Showtimes:

Friday, 8 p.m.

Saturday, 2 p.m. and 8 p.m.

General admission is $25 with a $5 discount for seniors and groups of 10 or more.
