National Small Business Week, the third annual Staying in the Game: Unwritten Rules to Small Business Success event featuring the Perfect Pitch Competition will take place Monday, May 12th at Wake Forest University’s uptown campus, 200 N. College Street, #150 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.


The winner of the Perfect Pitch will receive a Small Business Success Package worth more than $5,000.00. The following small businesses have been selected as finalists in The Perfect Pitch Small Business Competition:


• Caregiving Corner Jenniefer Szakaly launched Caregiving Corner, a geriatric care management and counseling firm, because she is passionate about older adults. She started the company in 2005 to help families navigate the long-term care system.


• NC Music Center Nyshia Cook is the owner of NC Music Center and has grown her company into an award-winning organization. It is the only African American-owned music school in Charlotte.


• R.J. Leeper Construction, LLC Ron Leeper, a protégé of Hugh McColl and former Charlotte City Councilman, has built a construction business that has worked on high-profile projects ranging from the Charlotte Transportation Center and University Park Baptist Church to the UNC Charlotte Student Union and the Duke Energy Tower.


In addition to the Perfect Pitch, the event will also feature Region IV SBA Administrator Cassius Butts.
