One-day conference sponsored by the Africana Studies Department at UNC Charlotte will feature scholars, legal and civil rights professionals and community advocates on issues pertaining to black families. Speakers will discuss how the current racial and sociopolitical climate, legislative and legal frameworks and economics impact African Americans. Includes the Bertha Maxwell-Roddey Distinguished Africana Studies Lecture at 3:30 p.m. with keynote address by Charles V. Willie, Charles William Eliot Professor of Education Emeritus at Harvard University. Free.
